Bowl Of Tears
Mount of the Holy Cross is a mountain summit in the northern Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,011-foot (4,271 m) fourteener is located in the Holy Cross Wilderness of White River National Forest, near the town of Red Cliff in Eagle County, Colorado, United States. The summit of Mount of the Holy Cross is the highest point in Eagle County and the northern Sawatch Range. It took us two days to reach the summit, and were rewarded with spectacular views. This is the Bowl of Tears, a glacial lake directly under the east face of the peak. Photo by Stevyn Llewellyn

Apprentice Geisha Maiko Print 舞妓
Original photograph of a lovely Maiko 舞妓, an apprentice Geisha in Kyoto Japan. Photo © Stevyn Llewellyn 2010.
I took this photo while travelling in Japan in Spring of 2010. I was fortunate enough to get a glimpse of a rare sight, a Maiko ( apprentice Geisha ) in her traditional kimono walking down Hanami Koji Dori street in the famous Geisha district in Kyoto. In the background are large sake casks, which frame her ornate wareshinobou hairstyle, elaborate kanzashi, brightly colored kimono, and beautiful green obi. She is also carrying a small purse. She had just finished a performance at the historic Pontocho Kaburenjo Theatre, where they have seasonal Geisha plays. This would make a unique gift for anyone interested in Japanese culture, Maiko, Geisha, or kimonos.

The Road

Segovia, Spain
I have been working lately on a very special project, that I will reveal closer to it’s completion. It has led me to Spain, and while I wasn’t working I made a side excursion to Segovia and toured it’s charming streets, it’s many cathedrals, the famed Roman Aqueduct, and the Alcazar, the spanish castle, you see above.
